The solid ovangkol/spruce 412ce features Taylor’s compact Grand Concert body shape, a short-scale neck, and a Venetian cutaway for an ultra-playable fretting experience. The smaller body will curb the overtones and fit well in a mix with other instruments. Taylor’s Expression System 2 pickup responds with great amplified tone for gigging or recording. Appointments include white binding, progressive dot fretboard inlays, and a three-ring rosette. The guitar ships in a Taylor deluxe hardshell case.

Grand Concert Body Shape
The Grand Concert body shape is the smallest of Taylor’s full-sized guitar bodies. Its compact contour provides a comfortable feel and features a slightly shorter scale length. The spruce top provides crisp tonal articulation that works well in pretty much any genre or style. Ovangkol is an African relative of rosewood and yields a nice push in the lower frequencies as well as a little extra midrange than rosewood does. Both tonewoods resonate a sound that is difficult to pigeonhole into one particular style — a solid choice for the dynamic player who likes to explore different musical genres.
Tropical Mahogany Neck and Ebony Fretboard
As a guitar tonewood, mahogany pushes the lows and mids slightly more than rosewood and ovangkol do while also adding a good amount of sustain to each note. The slightly shorter scale length of 24.875″ on this appendage brings the frets closer together, which can be easier on the fingers for players who prefer a slinkier feel. The ebony fingerboard is silky smooth and features 20 frets with tight action and addicting playability.
Taylor’s ES2 Electronics
When you’re ready to plug in, Taylor’s unmatched Expression System 2 electronics will deliver on demand. This design utilizes a behind-the-saddle piezo-electric transducer setup as opposed to the more common under-the-saddle pickup orientation, which doesn’t capture the nuance and dynamics of your playing quite as well. You have two tone controls and a gain control that’s 25 percent hotter than the original ES electronics design.
